Title: Consideration and possible approval to purchase two vehicle lift systems for the garage from Stertil Koni in the amount of $148,106.00.
Petitioner/Presenter: Neil C. Krutz, PE, Deputy City Manager/Ron Korman, Fleet and Facilities Manager
Recommendation: Staff recommends Council approve the purchase of this equipment for the garage.
Financial Impact: $210,000.00 was budgeted for this project in Key Service 130770-15 Capital Projects Fund, Program 13-1501 Fleet Building-Garage Oversize Lift, Account 604050 Buildings. There will be no ongoing expenses except for routine maintenance.
Business Impact (Per NRS 237):

A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief: The City garage is seeking approval to spend $148,106.00 to purchase two heavy lift systems to improve productivity and safety while working on the large equipment owned by the City.

Background: This request is for the purchase of two mobile heavy lift systems that will be used to service and repair the large equipment in the fleet. The one existing heavy lift in the garage is too small to lift modern equipment. The purchase of these two mobile lift systems is less expensive than purchasing one permanent in ground heavy lift system.

Analysis: In sourcing the vehicle, if approved, the City would be using the “joinder” provision allowed under NRS 332.195 and purchasing the vehicle utilizing the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) contract with MME for the same equipment. Utilizing the “joinder” provision allows the City to precisely define the equipment needed while foregoing the need to formally bid the item.

Alternatives: 1. Council could approve this purchase as outlined by staff. 2. Council could deny this purchase. 3. Council could direct staff to provide alternatives to this purchase.

Recommended Motion: I move to approve the purchase of heavy vehicle lift equipment from Stertil Koni in the amount of $148,106.00.
