Title: Consideration and possible approval to purchase two dump beds, two slide in sander units, and two brine applicators from Jordan’s Truck and Trailer Equipment / Henderson Truck Equipment in the amount of $265,269.84.

Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Council approves the purchase of these items to upfit the cab and chassis that were ordered from Silver State International.
Financial Impact: This purchase completes the replacement of 529A and 530A, two dump trucks on the Vehicle Replacement List, appendix to the adopted 2011/2012 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Appropriations from the City Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Plan, Project 127500 will be used to fund this purchase. Expenses will post to Account 604080, Vehicles using Project 12-7500-100.

Agenda Item Brief: Equipment Services is requesting authorization to spend $265,629.84 to upfit two cab and chassis that will replace two dump trucks in the City’s fleet.
Background: This request is for the purchase and installation of the dump bodies, slide-in sanders and slide-in brine applicators. These two units will replace two trucks that have exceeded their life cycle of 15 years. This equipment will also allow maintenance services to utilize brine to provide better snow and ice control during winter storms.
Analysis: In sourcing this equipment, if approved, the City would be using the joinder provision allowed under NRS 332.195.
Alternatives: 1. Council could approve this purchase as outlined by staff. 2. Council could deny this purchase. 3. Council could direct staff to provide alternatives to this purchase.
Recommended Motion: I move to approve this purchase of materials and labor to upfit two dump trucks from Jordan’s Truck and Trailer Equipment / Henderson Truck Equipment in the amount of $265,629.84.
