Title: Consideration and possible approval to purchase labor and materials associated with upfit for three new police cars from Sierra Electronics in the amount of $35,521.88.

Recommendation: Council approve this expense for the upfitting of police cars.
Financial Impact: This purchase completes the replacement of 230K, 201G, and 222I, three marked Patrol vehicles on the Vehicle Replacement List, appendix to the adopted 2011/2012 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Appropriations from the City Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Plan, Project 127500 will be used to fund this purchase. Expenses will post to Account 604080, Vehicles using Project 12-7500-100.

Agenda Item Brief: Equipment Services is requesting permission to spend $35,521.88 to upfit three new police cars.
Background: Three marked police cars were approved for replacement this year. This agenda item is for the expenses related to upfitting those cars to make them ready for service. The cost includes the lights, sirens, and other specialized equipment that the Police Department has in their cars.
Analysis: I received quotes from three vendors who are in the business of upfitting emergency vehicles and Sierra Electronics came in with the lowest price for the equipment that was specified by the City. Sierra Electronics $35,521.88 Lehr Auto Electric & Emergency Equipment $38,131.23 EVO Emergency Vehicle Outfitters $39,810.16 (did not include all specified equipment)
Alternatives: 1. Council could approve this purchase as outlined by staff. 2. Council could deny this purchase. 3. Council could direct staff to provide alternatives to this purchase.
Recommended Motion: I move to approve the purchase of labor and materials in the amount of $35,521.88 from Sierra Electronics for the upfitting of three new police vehicles.
