Title: Consideration and possible approval to purchase one Prodigy 14 passenger bus from Northwest Bus Sales Inc. in the amount of $57,754.00.

Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Council approves the purchase of this item for Parks and Recreation from Northwest Bus Sales Inc.
Financial Impact: $57,754.00 in Equipment Fund 1702. $1,956,500 was approved for Project 14-7500 Vehicle Replacements on the FY14 CIP and $1,498,718 of budget authority remains. See attached financial impact statement for additional information.

Agenda Item Brief: Equipment Services is requesting authorization to spend $57,754.00 to replace two 14 passenger vans used to transport participants in recreation programs.
Background: This request is for the purchase of a 14 passenger mini bus. This vehicle will replace 23B, and 27A. 23B and 27A are underutilized and will replace other older vans in the City fleet. This new minibus will be ADA compliant with a wheelchair lift.
Analysis: In sourcing the vehicle, if approved, the City would be using the joinder provision allowed under NRS 332.195, and purchasing the vehicles utilizing the State of Washington bid list. These state bids have historically been the most competitive. Utilizing the “joinder” provision allows the City to precisely define the vehicle needed while foregoing the need to formally bid the item.
Alternatives: 1. Council could approve this purchase as outlined by staff. 2. Council could deny this purchase. 3. Council could direct the City Manager to provide alternatives to this purchase.
Recommended Motion: I move to approve this purchase of a Prodigy 14 passenger bus from Northwest Bus Sales Inc. in the amount of $57,754.00.
