Title: Consideration and approval of memberships and contributions for FY 14 that serve general City purposes.

Recommendation: That the City Council review and provide direction on annual memberships and contributions for Fiscal Year (FY) 14.

Financial Impact: N/A

Business Impact (Per NRS 237):
A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.

Agenda Item Brief: The City Council is setting funding levels for budget purposes for next fiscal year for those items of general City support.

Background: As part of the budget development process the City Manager includes memberships in organizations which provide support or operate functions on behalf of the City for the general benefit of the City of Sparks.

Analysis: The attached table shows the City Memberships and funding levels approved in the Budget for the Fiscal Year (FY) 12, the current FY 13 and the best budget level information for the memberships for next fiscal year. The City Manager is requesting no new memberships and is looking for the City Council to provide direction to the City Manager for inclusion in the City Budget. I do have a request from City Council Member Lawson to increase the City Funding Level for EDAWN. More City funding will provide additional resources for the EDAWN mission at this critical time in our economic recovery.

Alternatives: The City Council may make changes to any membership or funding levels and provide other direction as properly related thereto.

Recommended Motion: I move to approve the funding of the City Memberships and Contributions for next fiscal year’s budget.
