Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible award of the City Hall/Maintenance Yard Carpet Replacement Project Informal Quote to Prestige Flooring, Inc., in the amount of $29,499.10. This project will include the removal and installation of carpet in the main entry area/hallway, City Manager’s office, Clerks office, and Customer Service area at City Hall and all the hallways located at the Maintenance Yard Administration building.
Background: The existing carpet at City Hall is approximately 15 years old, during this past summer several areas in the main entry, City Manager’s office, and Clerks office began to buckle and cause tripping hazards. The existing carpet at the Maintenance Yard Administration building is in excess of twenty-five years old and has worn though in numerous areas to the floor substrate.
Analysis: Staff met with three contractors on in October on site to request informal quotes for the replacement of carpet at City Hall and the Maintenance Yard. The contract is to remove the existing carpet and replace with 2’ x 2’ carpet tiles that match the carpet installed in the basement training approximately a year ago. Alternatives: 1. City Council could award the City Hall/Maintenance Yard Carpet Replacement Project as outlined by Staff. 2. City Council could reject the City Hall/Maintenance Yard Carpet Replacement Project and provide direction to the City Manager.
Recommended Motion: “I move to award the City Hall/Maintenance Yard Carpet Replacement Project Informal Quote to Prestige Flooring, Inc., in the amount of $29,499.10.”
