Recommendation: Staff recommends that Council approve a contract to purchase and install Artificial Turf for Golden Eagle Little League Field Expansion, to Field Turf, in the amount of $382,653

Financial Impact: The Golden Eagle Little League Field Expansion is an approved project in the FY11/12 CIP. $382,653 for Artificial Turf for Golden Eagle Little League Field Expansion will be made available via a budget augmentation in FY13, and will be encumbered in Account 604060 Program 12-3502.

Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible approval of a contract to purchase and install Artificial Turf for Golden Eagle Little League Field Expansion, to Field Turf, in the amount of $382,653. The purchase of this artificial turf will be for construction of two new Little League fields and to match the existing turf already at the existing fields. Staff recommends approval.

Background: The current Little League Park area at Golden Eagle has space graded for the construction of two additional fields. Council approved the FY 11/12 CIP which included the construction of these two additional fields May of 2011. The construction of the site improvements is being bid under a separate contract.

Analysis: Staff contacted Field Turf to obtain a quote to install matching turf of the existing facilities already in place at Golden Eagle Little League Park. If approved, the City would be using the “joinder” provision of a contract awarded by Field Turf GSA Contract (GS-07F-9631S) as allowed by NRS 332.195. The total cost for both fields is $382,653 and includes installation. A copy of the quote is attached for the Council’s review.

Alternatives: 1. City Council could approve the contract to Field Turf as outlined by Staff. 2. City Council could reject the contract to Field Turf, and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion: “I move to approve the contract to purchase and install Artificial Turf for Golden Eagle Little League Field Expansion, to Field Turf, in the amount of $382,653”.
