Agenda Item Brief: The National Emergency Medicine Association has offered the Sparks Police Department a grant in the amount of $1663 to purchase an emergency defibrulator to be deployed on the Police Department's Mobile Command Center.

Background: The National Emergency Medicine Association has an annual grant program that provides funds for government agencies and non-profits to increase their capabilities to handle medical emergencies and ensure positive outcomes for victims. The Sparks Police Department identified a need for an emergency defibrulator (AED) to be deployed with the Mobile Command Center. A grant poposal was submitted and an award has been offered.

Analysis: The cost of an AED and mounting hardware to affix it to the Mobile Command Center is approximately $1,663.

Alternatives: The Council can decline the grant award and seek funding elsewhere.

Recommended Motion: I move to accept the grant for $1,663 from the National Emergency Medicine Association to purchase an emergency defibrulator.
