Title: Consideration and possible approval of an application for a gaming license for Aasra Tera Inc., dba AM PM, located at 205 N. McCarran Blvd., Sparks, NV.
Petitioner/Presenter: Ms. Baljinder Kaur/Pete Krall, Chief of Police
Recommendation: recommend Council approve Ms. Kaur’s application for a Gaming license contingent upon the location being inspected and approved by every city, county, district, and state agency having jurisdiction over the matter and upon fingerprints being returned from the FBI/CJIS that do not reflect any disqualifying arrests/convictions.
Financial Impact: $120.00 x 7 = $840.00 annually. There will be seven multi-denominational slot machines.

Agenda Item Brief:

Ms. Baljinder Kaur submitted an application for a gaming license for Aasra Tera Inc. dba, AM PM, located at 205 N. McCarran Blvd. This location is a convenience store and gas station.



Background:

In accordance with SMC 5.24.040(B), a gaming license is required to keep, maintain or play any slot machine or punchboard played for money or for checks or tokens redeemable in money or property.

Ms. Kaur currently holds a gaming license for Doyle Payless Shell (gas station) in Doyle, California and has been the company president since 2006.



Analysis:

Ms. Kaur has complied with all existing ordinances and requirements. Police Chief Krall  recommends her application be approved contingent upon required agency approvals, inspections and fingerprint/criminal history review.



Alternatives:

1. Council may approve the application as submitted.

2. Council may deny the application and provide direction to the City Manager.



Recommended Motion:

I move to approve Baljinder Kaur's application for a gaming license for Aasra Tera Inc. dba AM PM, located at 205 N. McCarran Blvd., Sparks, NV, contingent upon the location being inspected and approved by every city, county, district, and state agency having jurisdiction over the matter and upon fingerprints being returned from the FBI  that do not reflect any disqualifying arrests or convictions.
