Title: Consideration and possible approval of an appointment to the Sparks Building Code Board of Appeals for a two-year term, from the following pool of applicants in alphabetical order: Mike Pecorino.

Recommendation: Council confirm the Building Officials appointment to the Building Code Board of Appeals.

Agenda Item Brief:

The Building Code Board of Appeals has one (1) vacancy for a two-year term, commencing on March 31, 2020 through March 31, 2022.The vacancy is for either a registered professional with electrical enginerring exerpience or an electrical contractor with at least 10 years experience, five (5) of which shall be in responsible charge of work. 



Background:

On September 9, 2002, the Sparks City Council enacted Ordinance No. 2153 establishing an independent board comprised of five (5) persons to hear appeals of decisions made by the City Building Official regarding interpretations of the Building Code. 

The Building Official shall make recommendations to the City Council for all appointments to the Building Code Board of Appeals. Persons appointed to the Board serve without compensation and at the pleasure of the City Council.



Analysis:

Vacancy announcements were made at the January 27, 2020, February 10, 2020 and February 24, 2020 Sparks City Council meetings. One (1) qualified application was received and Mike Pecorino was selected to continue to serve on the board. 

 



Alternatives:

1. Council may approve the appointment.

2. Council may reject the appointment and provide further direction to the City Manager.



Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the appointment of Mike Pecorino to the Building Code Board of Appeals for a two-year term, expiring March 31, 2022.
