Committee appointments.

Background:

The SCAC was established September 14, 2009 by Resolution No. 3162.  The committee formed to provide citizen input to the City Council, and to engage in and promote volunteerism in the City of Sparks. The Mayor and Council make appointments to the SCAC.  Members must be residents of the City of Sparks who have a desire to learn more about city government and a willingness to share their knowledge with others.

The City of Sparks has two vacancies on the SCAC for appointments, coterminous with their appointing elected official:

  • Ward 2 - Alternate appointment - term ending November 2022;
  • Ward 3 - Regular appointment - term ending November 2020;

Analysis:

The City advertised for these vancancies and received six (6) eligible applications. The appointments will be announced at the City Council Meeting on January 27, 2020.

Alternatives:

1. Council may approve the appointments.

2. Council may reject the appointments and provide further direction to the Mayor or City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the appointments of Eric Wacker (Ward 2 Alternate) and Alan Munson (Ward 3) to the Sparks Citizen's Advisory Committee, coterminous with their appointing elected officials.
