Agenda Item Brief:

This is a request for a partial refund of sewer connection fees associated with building permit SBLD18-21834. The contractor documented previously existing plumbing fixtures after issuance of the building permit and the payment of sewer connection fees.



Background:

TICO Construction submitted plans for a building permit to modify an existing tenant space to accommodate a new tenant, Accent Building Solutions. The original plan submittal did not include demolition pages indicating that any existing plumbing fixtures would be removed. The sewer connection fee was calculated based on the assumption that all fixtures were new.



Analysis:

Following the issuance of the building permit, Tico Construction Company documented the existing plumbing fixtures that were removed. The Building division of the Community Services Department determined that credit should have been given for these existing fixtures. The Building division recalculated the sewer connection fee and determined that TICO Construction Company is eligible for a refund in the amount of $5,360.85.



Alternatives:
  1. The City Council could approve a partial refund of sewer connection fees in the amount of $5,360.85 to TICO Construction Company, Inc
  2. The City Council could reject the recommendation and provide direction to staff.


Recommended Motion:

I move to approve a refund of sewer connection fees in the amount of $5,360.85 to TICO Construction Company, Inc in association with building permit number SBLD18-21834.
