Recommendation: Staff recommends Council approve a contract for the El Rancho Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project, to Gerhardt and Berry Construction, in the amount of $1,717,927.35.
Financial Impact: $1,717,927.35 in Sanitary Sewer Capital Projects Fund 1631. $1,477,810 was approved for Project 18-6594 El Rancho Sanitary Sewer Improvements in the FY19 CIP and $1,361,920 of budget authority remains. Remaining funds of $356,007 will be transferred from Project 19-6595, Annual Sewer System Rehab, which has $326,374 available and Project 19-6597, Annual Contingency, which has $100,000 available.

Agenda Item Brief:

Consideration and possible approval of a contract for the El Rancho Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project, to Gerhardt and Berry Construction, in the amount of $1,717,927.35.  This project was identified in the 2016 Sewer Model Update as a high priority capital improvement project.  Six (6) bids were received at City Hall on September 19, 2018 as a result of the formal bid process.



Background:

This project was identified in the 2016 Sewer Model Update as a high priority capital improvement project.  The scope includes upsizing the existing 8” sewer to 15” sewer.  New 15” sewer will be installed through the El Rancho Dr intersection with Oddie Blvd to connect the northern and southern El Rancho Dr sewer systems.   The new system will be connected to an existing 33” sewer interceptor at G Street.  The existing sewer connection between the El Rancho Dr and Greenbrae systems will be abandoned to relieve downstream pressure on the Greenbrae system, ultimately reducing the number of lower priority, capital projects identified for the Greenbrae system.  The project will provide much needed capacity improvements for the El Rancho Dr area as well as the Oddie Blvd and Greenbrae redevelopment district.



Analysis:

Six (6) bids were received at City Hall on September 19, 2018 because of the formal bid process.  The Engineer’s Estimate was $1,650,000.  Gerhardt and Berry Construction submitted the low bid for this project in the amount of $1,717,927.35.  A bid recap is provided below for Council’s review.
