Title: CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MEMBER SMITH'S REQUEST TO RECONSIDER THE VOTE ON ITEM 9.4 OF THE AUGUST 13, 2018 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA WHICH REJECTED THE CONTRACT WITH SIGNATURE LANDSCAPES AND DIRECTED THE CITY MANAGER TO CONTINUE A MONTH-TO-MONTH CONTRACT AND REVISIT CONTRACT OPTIONS.
Petitioner/Presenter: Council Member Ron Smith/City Manager Stephen Driscoll
Recommendation: Council approve the request to reconsider
Financial Impact: N/A
Business Impact (Per NRS 237):

A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief:

Upon completion of the August 13, 2018 City of Sparks Council meeting, Council Member Smith requested reconsideration of the approval to reject the Landscape Maintenance Services contract for Landscape Maintenance with Signature Landscapes for the proposed contract period of September 2018 thru March 2020 for a total cost not to exceed $180,899 and direct the City Manager to go to a month-to-month contract with Signature and continue to work towards another option.

Background:

The Sparks City Council rules allow a member who votes on the prevailing side of a motion to bring that matter back for reconsideration by the entire body at the next possible Council meeting. Mr. Smith contacted the City Manager and requested the reconsideration be placed on the agenda for August 27, 2018.

Analysis:

If a reconsideration motion is approved by the Council, the matter is properly agendized for Council to discuss and take action in the General Business section of the August 27, 2018 agenda as agenda item 9.4.

Alternatives:

The Council may either approve or reject the request to reconsider.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the request to reconsider the vote on item 9.4 of the August 13, 2018 City Council agenda and hear the item at today’s meeting, August 27, 2018.
