Recommendation: Staff recommends Council approve a contract for the Fire Station 4 Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project.
Financial Impact: $217,007 in Capital Projects Fund 1404. $250,000 was approved for Project 17-1007 Fire Station 4 Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project in FY17 CIP and $241,316.28 of budget authority remains.

Agenda Item Brief:

Fire Station 4 has a deteriorating parking lot that has been patched numerous times in the past.  This project will provide rehabilitation of the pavement in these areas.  Staff recommends approval. 



Background:

Fire Station 4 was built more than 20 years ago, in 1995, and the existing parking lot surface is coming to the end of its useful life.  Over the years, the pavement has been patched numerous times and needs replacement.  This project will rehabilitate the parking lot to safely handle the fire trucks that travel on the surface daily.  Refer to attached exhibit for project location.



Analysis:

Five (5) bids were received at City Hall on April 12, 2017 as a result of the formal bid process.  Staff has reviewed the quotes, found no irregularities, and recommends award to the low bid submitted by Sierra Nevada Construction, Inc., in the amount of $217,007, which includes a force account of $12,000.  A bid recap is provided below for Council’s review.

I move to approve the construction contract for the Fire Station 4 Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project in the amount of $217,007 to Sierra Nevada Construction, Inc.
