Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible award of the purchase of two Timberform play structures for Maldonado Park, to Park Pacific, in the amount of $68,490. The purchase of this play equipment will replace the existing deteriorated structures at Maldonado Park. Staff recommends approval.
Background: The current play equipment at Maldonado Park is seventeen years old. Based on review by City Staff, the structures require replacement to allow for safe play. Two pieces of equipment for the park are being purchased, one for ages 2 thru 5 and another for ages 5 and up. The TimberForm Play equipment is the standard play equipment that the City purchases and installs at neighborhood parks. The Funding for this equipment is coming from Park Construction Tax District 2 Fund 1407.
Analysis: Park Pacific is the only supplier of TimberForm play equipment on the west coast, therefore only one quote was obtained to purchase this equipment. The total cost of both pieces of play equipment is $68,490. City staff will construct these two pieces this winter. A copy of the quote, pieces of equipment being purchased, and map of the site are attached for the Councils review.
Alternatives: 1. City Council could approve the purchase of two TimberForm play structures for Maldonado Park, to Park Pacific as outlined by Staff. 2. City Council could reject purchase of two TimberForm play structures for Maldonado Park, to Park Pacific, and provide direction to the City Manager.
Recommended Motion: “I move to award the purchase of two TimberForm play structures for Maldonado Park, to Park Pacific, in the amount of $68,490.”
