The Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has offered a $20,676 grant to the Sparks Police Department to further crime prevention and control activities.
Background:
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) administered out of the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs allows states and units of local government to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own local needs and conditions.The grant amount of $20,676 will be applied to various initiatives, technical assistance, training, equipment, supplies and other program areas at the direction of the Chief of Police.
Analysis:
The grant award of $20,676 will allow the Sparks Police Department to implement resources that will contribute to the various activities the department engages in to further strengthen the safety and security of our community.
Alternatives:
The city can elect to decline the grant funding.
Recommended Motion:
I move to accept The Edward Byrne Memorial Assistance Grant (JAG) Program grant provided by the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs in the amount of $20,676.
