Agenda Item Brief: This agenda is in conjunction with the agenda item titled: Consideration and possible approval to add two newly created classifications of Assistant City Clerk and Records Technician and eliminate the positions of Records Specialist and Office Specialist in the Managerial Services Department, City Clerk’s Office; and make the appropriate reclassifications and personnel complement changes. Consideration and possible approval to add a newly created classification of Assistant City Clerk in the Managerial Services Department, City Clerk ‘s Office, and make the appropriate personnel complement changes to correspond with the classification addition.


Background: This is a request to approve the addition of the Assistant City Clerk classification in the Management, Professional and Technical Resolution. By adding the classification listed below, there is no alteration in the language of the current Agreement, but will require changes to “Appendix A – Management Job Class and Salary Wage Ranges”: Classifications to be added: With 7.5% concession reduction for fiscal year 2011 Title: Assistant City Clerk Pay Steps: 188.0 – 214.5 Pay Steps: 180.0 – 207.0 Pay Range: $60,072 - $77,843 Pay Range: $55,566 – $72,330 This position will receive three administrative leave days as outlined in the Management, Professional and Technical Resolution. Attached is the updated Appendix A – Management Job Class and Salary Wage Ranges. These changes will be effective immediately upon City Council approval of the agenda recommended motion.

Alternatives: 1. The City Council approves the addition of the Assistant City Clerk classification in the Management, Professional and Technical Resolution. 2. The City Council may choose to not approve the addition of the Assistant City Clerk classification in the Management, Professional and Technical Resolution. 3. The City Council may choose to not approve the addition of the Assistant City Clerk classification in the Management, Professional and Technical Resolution, but may provide other direction to City staff.

Recommended Motion: The City Council approves the addition of the Assistant City Clerk classification in the Management, Professional and Technical Resolution.
