Background:

The City of Sparks Planning Commission has two vacancies due to the expiration of terms effective December 31, 2014.

Commissioner Art Sperber has served one term on the Sparks Planning Commission and is willing to serve for another four years.  Commissioner Doug Voelz has also served one full term and a previous partial term making him eligible for another full term. Commissioner Voelz is also willing to serve for another four years.

Announcement of the two terms which expire on December 31, 2014 has been made at several Council meetings and five new applications were received. Applications were received from Art Sperber, Doug Voelz, Scott Carey, Curt Dollarhide, Mark Oleson, Andrea Tavener, and Alfonso Zamora. Mayor Martini is recommending that Mr. Sperber and Mr. Voelz be reappointed to the Sparks Planning Commission. Council must confirm the appointment.

If the Council rejects the reappointments of either or both, the Mayor shall appoint another person from the remaining applications and Council shall consider ratification either at the present meeting or at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Council.



Recommended Motion:

I move to confirm the reappointment of Commissioner Sperber and Commissioner Voelz to the Sparks Planning Commission.
