Title: Consideration, review and acceptance of the receipt of grant and/or donation money which is individually under $5,000.

Recommendation: That Council approves the acceptance of grants and/or donations received that are individually under $5,000.

Agenda Item Brief: Formal policy established for grants and donations directs that Council approve the acceptance of grant awards less than $5,000 via a staff report which details the receipt of such grants and donations.
Background: On March 11, 2013 Council approved Resolution No. 3234, which established a policy for the acceptance of grants and donations received and recorded by the Financial Services Department which are under the amount of $5,000 individually.
Analysis:
The following donations were awarded to the City during the period from January 2013 to March 2013:
Deshaun Lipscomb $24.11 Donation to Violence Against Women’s Police Program
Dennis Tittensor $350.00 Donation to Partners in Parks & Recreation
Target $1,500.00 Donation to Police to purchase Detective Equipment
Various Donors *$13,966.00 Donations to Fire Dept. Project SAFE – Golf Fundraiser
*Individual donations for Project SAFE were under $5,000.
Alternatives: Council could approve the grants and donations given to the City as shown above. Council could direct staff return one or all of the amounts given to the City.
Recommended Motion: I move to accept the receipt of grant and/or donation money which is individually under $5,000.
