Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible award of the purchase of four shade structures for Cottonwood Park, to Great Western, in the amount of $32,706.52. The purchase of this four shade structures for cottonwood Park include web coat tables and trash receptacles. Staff recommends approval.

Background: The four shade structures will add much needed shade and seating for the families that frequent Cottonwood Park. RCP All Steel Square Shelters are standard shelters that the City purchases and installs at neighborhood parks. The Funding for these shelters is coming from Park Construction Tax District 2 Fund 1407.

Analysis: Great Western is the Western Regional supplier of RCP shade shelters based out of Utah and their local representative in Sparks worked with the city to develop the quote. We are using a Carson City Joinder Bid #0607-008 therefore only one quote was obtained to purchase this equipment. The total cost of four structures and the four tables and trash receptacles is $32,706.52. A copy of the quote with pieces of equipment being purchased are attached for the Council’s review.

Alternatives: 1. City Council could approve the purchase of four RCP shade structures for Cottonwood Park, to Great Western as outlined by Staff. 2. City Council could reject purchase of four RCP shade structures for Cottonwood Park, to Great Western, and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion: “I move to award the purchase of, four RCP shade structures for Cottonwood Park, to Great Western in the amount of $32,706.52.”
