The Sparks Civil Service Commission was established not only to provide qualified applicants for employment, but also to protect employees from descrimination or unfair treatment. The Commmission consists of five (5) Sparks residents, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
There is currently one (1) vacancy on the Commission with a term ending June 30, 2023.
Background:
The Civil Service Commission has authority over all phases of the procedures for selection, appointment and promotion of employees in the civil service; for the appeal rights of such employees with regard to suspension, demotion, dismissal and disciplinary action; and for the transfer of employees within the City. Vacancies on the Commission must be filled by appointment by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
