Background:

The City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Commission reviews the tentative budget of the Parks and Recreation Department; makes recommendations for improvements to parks and playgrounds to the City Council and aids by recommendation in the implementation of a beneficial parks and recreation program.

Analysis:

The City of Sparks has three, three-year appointments available to the Sparks Parks and Recreation Commission.

An announcement of the vacancies was made at the March 23, 2020 and April 13 and 27, 2020 council meetings.

Several Community Service Applications were received, expressing interest in serving on the board. Mayor Smith has conducted brief interviews with the applicants and has made his selections:

Terry Frugoli (re-appointment)
Melanie Short
Matthew Robinson

Council may confirm the appointments.

Alternatives:

1. Council may approve the appointment.

2. Council may reject the appointment and provide further direction to the Mayor or the City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to confirm the Mayor's appointments of Terry Frugoli, Melanie Short and Matthew Robinson to the Sparks Parks and Recreation Commission for three-year terms ending 06/30/2023.
