Agenda Item Brief:

Committee appointments.

Background:

The SCAC was established September 14, 2009 by Resolution No. 3162.  The committee was formed to provide essential citizen input to the City Council, and to engage in and promote volunteerism in the City of Sparks.

The Mayor and Council make appointments to the SCAC.  Members shall be residents of the City of Sparks, to include high school students, who have a desire to learn more about city government and a willingness to share their knowledge with others.

Analysis:

The City of Sparks has three alternate vacancies on the SCAC for appointments, coterminous with their appointing elected official:

Ward 2 - alternate appointment - term ending November 2022;

Ward 3 - alternate appointment - term ending November 2020;

Ward 4 - alternate appointment - term ending November 2022.

The City advertised for these three (3) vancancies but only received applications for Wards 3 and 4. The vacancy for Ward 2 representative has been reposted.

Alternatives:

1. Council may approve the appointments.

2. Council may reject the appointments and provide further direction to the Mayor or City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the appointments to the Sparks Citizen's Advisory Committee for two (2) alternate positions, Wards 3 and 4, coterminous with their appointing elected officials.
