Title: Administer Oath of Office to newly appointed Chief of the Fire Department, James Reid.

Recommendation: An Oath of Office is administered to newly appointed officials for the city of Sparks.
Financial Impact: None.
Business Impact (Per NRS 237):
     A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief:

Sparks Charter Section 1.080(2) "Appointive Positions" states: The City Manager shall appoint the heads of each department.

Sparks Charter Section 1.110 "Oath of Office" states: Every person elected or appointed under the provisions of section 1.060 to 1.090, inclusive, shall subscribe to the official oath as provided by the City Council.  Each person shall swear or affirm that he or she is not under any direct or indirect obligation to vote for, appoint, or elect any person to any office, position, or employment in the City government.



Background:

On May 3, 2019, City Manager Neil C. Krutz appointed James Reid as the Chief of the Fire Department, effective June 7, 2019.
