Title: Consideration, discussion and possible appointments to the Regional Planning Governing Board for up to two additional alternate positions, with two-year terms from the following pool of applicants listed in alphabetical order: Anderson, Paul and Dahir, Kristopher.

Recommendation: That the Council select up to two alternate appointments to the Regional Planning Governing Board.

Agenda Item Brief:

The Regional Planning Governing Board is responsible for regional planning policy issues and adopts the Regional Plan based on recommendations put forward by the Regional Planning Commission.  The Board has ten members; three from Washoe County, four from the City of Reno; and three from the City of Sparks. 

Additional alternate positions are allowed per the Regional Planning Governing Board By-Laws of 4.15.10, pg. 5:  "Each local government may appoint alternates who can serve in the case of the absense of a member or if a member is unable to complete a term." 



Background:

The City of Sparks' three appointments to the Regional Planning Governing Board are staggered, three-year terms.  Each appointee is an elected official; the current members are: Council members Donald Abbott, Charlene Bybee, Ed Lawson, and Mayor Ron Smith, as an alternate.
