Agenda Item Brief:

Equipment Services is requesting authorization to spend $115,214.46 to replace a trash truck within Public Works Maintenance.

Background:

This request is for the replacement of an existing trash truck – Unit #533A. The existing trash truck has exceeded its scheduled life cycle and is in need of replacement. The replacement trash truck, Unit #5300, will be a 2018/2019 Isuzu chassis with a Heil 9yd Mini Reloader body installed.  Upon replacement the old trash truck, Unit #533A, will be sold at auction.

Analysis:

In sourcing these vehicles, if approved, the City would be using the joinder provision allowed under NRS 332.195, and purchasing these vehicles utilizing the State of Nevada vehicle bid. Utilizing existing bids have historically been the most competitive. Utilizing the “joinder” provision allows the City to precisely define the vehicles needed while foregoing the need to formally bid the item

Alternatives:
  1. Council could approve this purchase as outlined by staff.
  2. Council could deny this purchase and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the purchase of mini loader trash truck from Reno Buick GMC Cadillac in the amount of $115,214.46.
