Agenda Item Brief:

Board appointments.

Background:

The policies, business, and affairs of TRFMA are conducted and governed by a six-member Board of Directors consisting of two elected officials appointed by the governing bodies that are TRFMA members. Each Director has one vote; actions of the board are decided by unanimous consent of the Directors present at the meeting (four Directors constitutes a quorum). Meetings are generally held on the second Friday of each month.

Analysis:

Mayor Geno Martini has resigned from the Board and is recommending Council Member Donald Abbott, who has been serving as an alternate, to take his place. Council should appoint a member to fill a partial two-year term that will expire November 2018.

The Council could also appoint an alternate to the Board, if necessary.  The alternate will also serve a partial two-year term that will expire November 2018.

Alternatives:

The Council could give other direction.

Recommended Motion:

I move to appoint __________________to the Truckee River Flood Management Authority, Board of Directors.

I also move to appoint ______________ as an alternate to the Truckee River Flood Management Authority, Board of Directors.
