Council approved the FY 17 CIP budget with $150,000 for the Del Cobre Park path rehabilitation project.  This project is to rehabilitate the pathway by realigning it through the eastern edge of the park away from existing trees that have caused substantial root damage to the existing pathway.  This will reduce the grass turf area and minimize root damage, which will help conserve water and reduce maintenance costs.  The project also consists of adjusting the existing irrigation system to provide proper coverage of the reduced turf area once realignment is complete. 

The base bid of the project includes the removal of 8,715 SF of existing concrete and asphalt pathway, adjusting the irrigation system and heads, construction of 7,290 SF of realigned 8’ wide concrete pathway, minor grading and landscaping, and 65 LF of concrete Curb.

Alternate A includes the removal of approximately 42,900 SF of grass turf as part of the turf reduction program to help conserve water. 

The project was advertised in the Reno Gazette Journal on June 20, 2018 and digital copies were distributed to local plan rooms.  Two (2) bids were opened at City Hall on July 12, 2018.  Staff has reviewed the bids, found no irregularities, and recommends award of the base bid only submitted by Garden Shop Nursery Landscaping Division, Inc, in the amount of $151,010, which includes a force account of $5,000 to correct unforeseen conditions, if required.  Staff is not recommending acceptance of Alternate A because funding is not available.  A bid recap is provided below for Council’s review.  A detailed bid recap along with a map showing the limits of construction are also attached for Council’s review.
