Background:

The Regional Planning Governing Board is responsible for regional planning policy issues and adopts the Regional Plan based on recommendations put forward by the Regional Planning Commission. The Board has ten members; three from Washoe County; four from the City of Reno; and three from the City of Sparks.

Analysis:

The City of Sparks’ 3 appointments to the Regional Planning Governing Board are staggered, three-year terms. Each appointee is an elected official; the current members are: Council Members Donald Abbott, Charlene Bybee, Ed Lawson and Kristopher Dahir, as an alternate.

Council Member Donald Abbott's partial term expires on June 30, 2018 and he is willing to re-apply for the next three-year term of (07.01.2018 - 6.30.2021).

Alternatives:

Council could give other direction.

Recommended Motion:

I move to reappoint Council Member Donald Abbott to the Regional Planning Governing Board for a three-year term of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021.
