Title: Consideration and possible approval of a consulting contract with Lloyd Civil & Sports Engineering (AC-5402) for the design of Golden Eagle Regional Park Multi-Use Field 7 & 8 synthetic turf replacement in the amount of $68,120.

Financial Impact: This project will utilize budget from Fund 1402, CIP# 18-1702. Currently Available is $1,556,450.00.

Agenda Item Brief:

Golden Eagle Regional Park Multi-Use Fields 7 & 8 have reached the end of their useful life and require replacement.  This consulting contract will be for the review of synthetic turf and padding types available, preparation of bids documents, and construction support.  Staff recommends approval.



Background:

The City of Sparks worked with Lloyd Civil & Sports Engineering to develop a long-term asset management/replacement plan of our synthetic fields in 2016.  Based upon this study which included onsite review of the synthetic turf fields and impact attenuation testing of the fields, the Multi-Use Fields 7 & 8 have reached the end of their useful life and require replacement.  The current multi-use fields were completed in April 2008.  



Analysis:

The scope of services for this contract is to provide:

  • Review of current site conditions.
  • Look at all possible synthetic turf options that provide best price and longevity.
  • Develop Bid Documents.
  • Assist with Bid Review.
  • Provide onsite construction assistance during installation.


Alternatives:
  1. City Council could approve the contract as outlined by Staff.
  2. City Council could reject the contract and provide direction to the City Manager.


Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the consulting contract with Lloyd Civil & Sports Engineering for the design of Golden Eagle Regional Park Multi-Use Field 7 & 8 synthetic turf replacement in the amount of $68,120.
