Agenda Item Brief:

The claim covers moving expenses from the existing yard at Kleppe Lane, which is significantly impacted by the North Truckee Drain Phase 3 construction, to a temporary yard at UNR Farms.  Refer to attachments for claim back-up information.

Background:

Soil Tech leases 2090 Kleppe Lane, Unit C and yard space, from the Star Professional Building owned by the Krugs’ and Bellons’.  The yard space has historically been used for nursery operations, weed management and re-vegetation equipment.  Construction activities for North Truckee Drain Phase 3 have caused their yard space to be temporarily unusable.  Soil Tech has relocated their nursery operations and equipment to UNR Farms.  A claim was submitted to the City for reimbursement of the moving expenses, as well as the erecting of a temporary nursery facility.

Analysis:

The claim for reimbursement, the itemized breakdown of Soil Tech’s expenses, and Soil Tech’s lease agreement at the Kleppe Lane property are attached to the agenda item for Council’s review.

Alternatives:
  1. City Council could approve claim for reimbursement as outlined by Staff.
  2. City Council could reject the claim for reimbursement and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the claim for reimbursement of moving expenses by Soil Tech in the amount of $62,631.61.
