Title: Consideration and possible approval of a construction contract for Fire Station 1 for the 3rd Floor Shower Remodel Project in the amount of $63,039 to Gill Construction Incorporated (AC5372).

Recommendation: Staff recommends Council approve a contract for the Fire Station 1 - 3rd Floor Shower Remodel Project.
Financial Impact: $63,039 in Capital Projects Fund 1405. $65,000 was approved for Project 16-1501 Fire Station 1 – 3rd Floor Shower Remodel Project in FY16 CIP and $63,040 of budget authority remains.

     A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief:

The shower remodel will reconfigure the shower to improve plumbing, remediate moisture infiltration, separate shower stalls, and improve ADA accessibility to the 3rd floor showers at Fire Station 1.  Staff recommends approval.



Background:

Fire Station 1 was built more than 35 years ago, in 1981, prior to many of the current accessibility code requirements and standard building practices during that time.  The existing shower area is an open area with multiple shower heads and raised floor surface.  This Project will rehabilitate the shower and create three (3) individual shower stalls including an individual accessible shower that meets current ADA standards.



Analysis:

Three (3) quotes were received at City Hall on May 12, 2017 as a result of the informal quote process.  Staff has reviewed the quotes, found no irregularities, and recommends award to the low bid submitted by Gill Construction Incorporated, in the amount of $63,039, which includes a force account of $4,000.  A bid recap is provided below for Council’s review.

Alternatives:

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the construction contract for Fire Station 1 for the 3rd Floor Shower Remodel Project in the amount of $63,039 to Gill Construction Incorporated.
