Agenda Item Brief:

Consideration and possible award of the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF) 2017 Pavement Preservation Project contract to Sierra Nevada Construction, in the amount of $61,300.  The funding for this project has been budgeted in the TMWRF Administration - Operating: Maintenance and Repairs budget.  Staff recommends that council award the contract.

Background:

The pavement preservation project, located at the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF), will provide crack seal and slurry seal on the asphalt pavement areas as identified on the attached map.  The pavement treatments established in the project scope will extend the life of the existing asphalt pavement around the plant.  Funding for the maintenance activity was established in the FY 16/17 TMWRF Administration - Operating: Maintenance and Repairs budget.

Analysis:

The City of Sparks contacted two (2) local Contractors who perform this type of work. Informal Quote packages were sent out on 3/29/2017 with two (2) quotes received on or before April 7, 2017 via email.

Below is a quote summary as received from the two qualified Contractors:

Sierra Nevada Construction (002)                              $61,300.00

Intermountain Slurry Seal (003)                                  $67,861.43

Alternatives:
  1. City Council could award the project contract as outlined by Staff.
  2. City Council could reject the proposed project contract and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion:
