Agenda Item Brief: This request is for approval of a new janitorial contract with Jani-King to provide Janitorial Services to the City of Sparks through Jani-King in the amount of $67,536.00 per year.
Background: The Maintenance Division began contracting janitorial services in 2008. That contract has expired and a request for bids was issued. Four vendors submitted bids of which Jani-King a local franchise was the lowest bidder.
Analysis: Staff has checked the references provided by Jani King, Inc. These include RTC, TMCC., and US Airways. The responses were good. Staff is confident that Jani-King is a reputable company and will meet the needs of the City.
Alternatives: Alternative (1) Reject the bid and direct staff further. Alternative (2) Eliminate contracted custodial services, and hire two additional staff to perform this work. This would result in an total expenditure of approximately $262,032.00 per year for custodial services.
Recommended Motion: I move to approve this contract with Jani-King in the amount of $67,536.00 per year.
