Julia Ratti and Ron Schmitt are leaving there positions as City Council Member from Ward 1 and Ward 5, respectfully. This item is intended to provide an opportunity to grant them the opportunity to retain the "tools of the office" that they may have accumulated in that time.
Background:
All City Council Members are given the use of city supplies, materials and equipment to perform the duties of their office. These may include office supplies, promotional items, personal electronics and general support over the course of their tenure. This item offers the opportunity for the City Council to recognize Council Members Ratti's and Schmitt's service to the City of Sparks over their tenure and, as a token of appreciation, grant them the opportunity to retain the "tools of the office" that they may have accumulated in that time.
Analysis:
Any materials Ms. Ratti and Mr. Schmitt may wish to retain, which may include remaining supplies, furniture or electronics that they used in their positions of City Council Members have all been fully depreciated and hold only "surplus" value to the City that is undetermined at this time, but likely negligible.
Alternatives:
1. The Council may approve to grant the "tools of the office" as presented by staff.
2. The Council may not approve grant the "tools of the office" as presented by staff.
3. The Council may not approve grant the "tools of the office" as presented by staff and provide other direction to the City Manager.
Recommended Motion:
I move to approve to grant the 'tools of the office' that they may wish to retain to Council Members Ratti and Schmitt.
