This mutual aid agreement between the Sparks Fire Department and National Guard Bureau is brand new. The agreement has already been approved by the Federal Government.
Background:
The Sparks Fire Department maintains cooperative agreements with local, state, and federal fire agencies to provide resources to assist each other with emergencies that exceed the capabilities of a single agency.
This mutual aid agreement between the Sparks Fire Department and National Guard Bureau is brand new. The contract will be valid for a period of five (5) years.
This new agreement will take effect once approved by the Sparks City Council and signed.
Analysis:
Cooperative agreements are crucial in mitigating those emergencies that exceed the capabilities of a single agency. This agreement expands our pool of resouces in the region that the Sparks Fire Department can call when extra help is needed.
Alternatives:
- Council can choose to not approve the Mutual Aid Agreement between the City of Sparks and the US Department of Defense, National Guard Bureau.
- Council can accept the recommended motion.
Recommended Motion:
I move to approve the Mutual Aid Agreement between the City of Sparks and the Department of Defense, National Guard Bureau.
