Title: Consideration, discussion and possible approval to change the current job title of Parks Development & Operations Manager to Parks Development Coordinator on Appendix A in the MP Resolution.

Recommendation: The City Council approve a title change from Parks Development & Operations Manager to Parks Development Coordinator.
Financial Impact: This position is budgeted and a title change only. There is no request to change salary.
Business Impact (Per NRS 237):
    
A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief:

The Community Services Department and Human Resources wish to change the title for this position in order to best reflect the duties of the position.  If approved, a second Agenda item will request that the employee complement be changed to reflect the title change.

 



Background:

The position of Parks Development & Operations Manager has been moved from the Parks and Recreation Department to the Community Services Department.

After review of the job duties and the job description, the Community Services Department and Human Resources wish to change the title in order to best reflect the duties of the position.

The prior job description and the current job description are essentially the same.  The word "manager" in the title was misleading, as it was not managerial in nature and the position did not have direct reports.   "Coordinator" better reflects the essential duties of the position.

Current Title:  Parks Development & Operations Manager

New Title: Parks Development Coordinator

Resolution:  Mid-Management Professional



Alternatives:

1.  The City Council may approve the change to the title as presented by staff.

2.  The City Council may not approve the change to the title as presented by staff.

3.  The City Council may not approve the change to the title, but provide direction or alternatives to the City Manager.

 



Recommended Motion:

I move to approve a title change from Parks Development & Operations Manager to Parks Development Coordinator.
