Recommendation: Staff recommends that Council award the 2014 Street Rehabilitation– Unit 2, Bid No. 13/14-025, PWP-WA-2014-197 to Q&D Construction, in the amount of $339,200.
Financial Impact: This project will combine budget of $339,200 from two different funds in three different CIP projects. $259,840 will come from Fund 1401 Road Fund - CIP #140502 Pavement Management Program Street Rehabilitation (currently available $349,897). $3,500 will come from Fund 1631 Sewer Fund - CIP #146602 Annual Road Ahead Project Coordination (currently available $33,531). $75,860 will come from Fund 1641 Drains Fund - CIP #146801 Annual Road Ahead Project Coordination (currently available $79,309).

Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible award of the the2014 Street Rehabilitation– Unit 3, Bid No. 13/14-025, PWP-WA-2014-197 to Q&D Construction, in the amount of $339,200. Staff recommends that council award the contract.
Background: This 2014 Street Rehabilitation Unit 3 project is part of the City’s Transportation System - Pavement Management Program. The project was prioritized through the City’s Pavement Management System and outlined in the 5 year Program of Projects.
Analysis: The project scope identifies the need to remove and replace curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveway approaches and handicap ramps. Reconstruction will include installation of new storm drain and new asphalt on Kim Way from Richards Way to Arndell Way and Arndell Way from Kim Way to Probasco Way. The opinion of probable construction cost for the project was $360,000. The City of Sparks received four (4) qualified bids for this project, which were received May 29, 2014 at 1:45 p.m. and opened on May 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
Alternatives: 1. City Council could award the project as outlined by Staff. 2. City Council could reject the proposed project and provide direction to the City Manager.
Recommended Motion: I move to award the 2014 Street Rehabilitation Unit 3 project to Q&D Construction, in the amount of $339,200.
