Financial Impact: $147,500 of appropriations have been set aside in the approved 5 Year CIP for Project 120560, Crack Seal Material, and will be charged to Account 603310, Chemicals - Crack Sealer, in Transportation Systems, Fund 1401, for this purchase.
Business Impact (Per NRS 237):

A Business Impact Statement is not required because this is not a rule.
Agenda Item Brief: Staff is requesting approval of the purchase of Crafco Poly Flex II in the amount of $70,000 in support of the 2011/2012 corrective maintenance program.

Background: Crafco Poly Flex II is the product used in the crack sealing process when performing maintenance on City streets. This product has proven to give the City the best performance compared with similar products on the market. The Maintenance Division estimates the amount of the product needed to complete the work for the season, and purchases accordingly.

Analysis: The City will be utilizing the “joinder” provision allowed under NRS 332.115. Specifically, the City will be using a contract for these materials that was issued by the State of Nevada, to Crafco, Inc. The State’s bid represented very high qualities of material and the City is able to join this contract and leverage those higher volumes to our benefit.

Alternatives:

Recommended Motion: I move to approve the purchase of Crafco Poly Flex II in the amount of $70,000 during FY11/12.
