Agenda Item Brief: Consideration and possible award of GERP Softball Building Deck Coating Project Informal Quote to Spectra Contract Flooring, in the amount of $59,951.00. The installation of this floor system will prevent porous leaks through the concrete to the lower floor of the building. Staff recommends approval.
Background: The existing outdoor concrete deck at the Golden Eagle Softball building has water leaks that have developed over the past few years. This is due to the porous nature of concrete and the normal cracking that has occurred in the concrete.
Analysis: Engineering, Parks, and Maintenance staff reviewed the issues of the existing facility to develop a plan to seal the concrete deck. Staff met with flooring representatives to look at the various alternatives that would provide the best long term solution. The “Key Lastic SWS” flooring system to be installed is an elastomeric urethane system specifically designed for waterproofing of concrete decks and structures. Staff contacted three qualified contractors to provide an Informal Quote to install the coating on the concrete deck. Three quotes were received on August 13, 2013, and a recap is given below: Spectra Contract Flooring $59,951.00 Surface Systems $62,051.00 C&L Coatings $89,030.00
Alternatives: 1. City Council could award the GERP Softball Building Deck Coating Project as outlined by Staff. 2. City Council could reject the GERP Softball Building Deck Coating Project and provide direction to the City Manager.
Recommended Motion: “I move to award the GERP Softball Building Deck Coating Project Informal Quote, to Spectra Contract Flooring, in the amount of $59,951.00”
