Agenda Item Brief: Planning Commissioner Tom Lean’s Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission term expires on June 30, 2013. Mayor Martini is recommending Tom Lean be reappointed to another term as a Regional Planning Commissioner.
Background: The City of Sparks has three Planning Commissioners who are appointed to serve the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission (along with three representatives from unincorporated Washoe County and three from the City of Reno). Currently, Planning Commissioner Tom Lean serves with Doug Voelz, and Art Sperber.
Analysis: Planning Commissioner Tom Lean’s term expires on June 30, 2013. Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commissioners terms are three year appointments. Mayor Martini is recommending Tom Lean be reappointed to another term as a Regional Planning Commissioner. Tom Lean would like to serve another term as a Regional Planning Commissioner.
Alternatives: The City Council may appoint a Planning Commissioner who isn’t currently serving on the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission.
Recommended Motion: I move to confirm the Mayor’s recommendation to reappoint Planning Commissioner Tom Lean to the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission to a 3 year term.
