Agenda Item Brief: Committee appointments to the Airport Noise Advisory Panel, Sparks Planning Commission, the Western Nevada Development District and the Sparks Parks and Recreation Commission.


Background: Appointments to the Airport Noise Advisory Panel will expire on December 31, 2012. There are three appointments at this time. Each appointment is for a 2-year term. Mayor Martini will make his recommendations at the council meeting. Appointments to the Sparks Planning Commission will expire on December 31, 2012. There are two appointments at this time. Each appointment is for a 4-year term. Tom Lean has requested reappointment and Mayor Martini will make his recommendations at the council meeting. Membership into the Western Nevada Development District was approved by the City Council on September 24, 2012. The City Council appointed Council Member Ed Lawson as the elected representative to serve on the WNDD Board and Council Member Ron Schmitt as the alternate. Each member may appoint not more than two private sector members from the business, industrial, professional and educational segments of that County and they will serve at the pleasure of the Sparks City Council. (Resolution No. 3225). Mayor Martini will make his recommendation at the council meeting. An appointment to the Sparks Parks and Recreation Commission has become available. The vacancy is for a term which will expire June 30, 2014. Mayor Martini will make his recommendation at the council meeting.

Recommended Motion: I move to confirm the appointments of the Mayor to the Airport Noise Advisory Panel, the Sparks Planning Commission, the Western Nevada Development District and the Sparks Parks and Recreation Commission.
