Agenda Item Brief:

Sparks City Charter 1.080(2) allows the City Manager to appoint the heads of each department.

Sparks City Charter 1.110 requires every person appointed under the provisions of sections 1.060 to 1.090 to be administered the official Oath of Office.

City Manager Krutz's appointment and confirmation by the City Council on October 26, 2020 of a new Assistant City Manager requires the taking of the official Oath of Office prior to assuming his/her duties on November 9, 2020.

Background:

Per Sparks City Charter 1.080

(2) The City Manager shall appoint the heads of each department.

and

Sparks City Charter 1.110

Every person elected or appointed under the provisions of sections 1.060 to 1.090, inclusive, shall subscribe to the offical oath as provided by the City Council.

Analysis:

Mayor Ed Lawson will administer the Oath of Office to Alyson McCormick, the newly appointed Assistant City Manager.
