Agenda Item Brief:

This Professional Services Contract will engage NCE to collect pavement condition data and perform related duties on one third of City of Sparks roadways. The City’s evaluation of its pavement conditions is on a three-year inspection cycle for the non-RTP (Regional Transportation Plan) pavement sections. This data is collected and entered into the City’s existing MicroPaver database. The City uses this information to plan future road rehabilitation projects. The contract amount is $55,930.00.

Background:

The City of Sparks uses a computer program called MicroPaver to manage the pavement conditions of the City’s roadways. This program requires field investigation and inspection of all roadway surfaces. The City updates roadways inspections on a three-year rotation inspection cycle meaning that one third of the City’s streets are evaluated annually. This information is used to plan future roadway rehabilitation projects. Pavement conditions are also made available to the public on the City’s website.

Analysis:

This contract will engage NCE to collect pavement condition data and perform related duties on one third of City of Sparks non-RTP (Regional Transportation Plan) roadways. NCE will collect this data and enter it into the City’s existing MicroPaver database.

Alternatives:
  1. Council could approve the contract as outlined by Staff.
  2. Council could reject the contract and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve professional services contract (AC-5681) with NCE for the FY21 Annual Pavement Condition Data Collection in the amount of $55,930.00.
