A budget augmentation has been entered and is reflecting in Agresso; due to a timing issue, it will reflect in the agenda item submittal program soon.

Agenda Item Brief:

Engineering Services Agreement Amendment #1 is being requested to provide additional engineering work and geotechnical investigation to divide the CDBG Street Improvement Projects into smaller areas due to funding constraints. Amendment #1 is in the amount of $6,000.00 for a total contract of $55,100.00.

Background:

The preliminary and final design of the 2018 CDBG Project was awarded to CFA. Due to budget availability for the CDBG program, the original limits of the street improvement project have been divided into several smaller reconstruction projects. This will require additional consultant time to divide the design packages that was not included in the original scope of the contract.

Analysis:

The increased cost requested is for the additional work required to divide the street improvement project into smaller, more budget-appropriate, phases. The proposal also includes additional geotechnical investigation to provide a design that is more efficient based on the existing ground conditions.

Alternatives:

1. City Council could approve the amendment to the contract as outlined by staff.

2. City Council could reject the amendment to the contract and provide direction to the City Manager.

Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the Engineering Services Agreement (AC-5561) Amendment #1 with CFA Engineering for the Civil Engineering Design & Survey Service for the 2018 CDBG Neighborhood Street Reconstruction in the amount of $6,000.00 for a total contract amount of $55,100.00.
