Background:
The City of Sparks Planning Commission has two vacancies due to the expiration of terms effective December 31, 2018.
Mr. Scott Carey has served a partial term on the Sparks Planning Commission from September 26, 2016 through December 31, 2018 and has expressed interest in serving an additional four-year term. Ms. Shelley Read has also served a partial term from August 29, 2017 through December 31, 2018 and has expressed interest in serving an additional four-year term. Announcement of the term expirations was made at the November 13 and November 26 City Council meetings. Interested candidates were encouraged to apply by the close of business on December 21, 2018. Mayor Smith is recommending reappointment of Mr. Carey and Ms. Read from the following pool of applicants: Scott Carey, Jonathan Crawford, Donald Kennedy, Andrew Ngo, John Novak, Shelley Read, Kaylee Spinhirn and William Wagner.

If City Council rejects the reappointment of Mr. Carey and/or Ms. Read, the Mayor shall appoint another person from the remaining applications and Council shall consider ratification either at the present meeting or at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Council.
Recommended Motion:
I move to confirm the reappointment of Mr. Carey and Ms. Read to the Sparks Planning Commission through December 31, 2022.
