The 2018 general election was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 and the City Council must canvass the votes and declare the results official within 10 days of the election per the City Charter, Section 5.100(2).
The 2018 general ballot included an advisory question: Should the City Attorney remain an elected non-partisan office within Sparks's government? Per the 2018 unofficial summary provided by the Washoe County Registrar of Voters:
36,791 votes were cast, 29,906 (81.29%) yes; 6,885 (18.71%) no.
During the 2018 primary election held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, the candidate races were all decided. Those results were canvassed on June 25, 2018 and all four candidates were declared elected: James Spoo for Judge Department Two; Ed Lawson for Council Ward 2; Charlene Bybee for Council Ward 4; and Ron Smith for Mayor.
Background:
On November 6, 2018, the general election was conducted by the Washoe County Registrar of Voters on behalf of the City of Sparks per the interlocal agreement (AC-5436) approved by the Sparks City Council on January 22, 2018. Pursuant to NRS 293C.110, Sparks City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2548 on February 12, 2018, providing for the conducting and holding of the 2018 primary and general elections for the offices of Judge for Department Two, Mayor, and Council members representing the second and fourth wards. In addition, an advisory ballot question was included on the general election.

Recommended Motion:
