Areas of the grass turf on the shared Little League/Soccer Fields at Shadow Mountain Sports Complex need removal and replacement. The City approached the Sparks Youth Sports Foundation to request a donation for the cost of repairs.
Background:
Over the years the City of Sparks has partnered with the Sparks Youth Sports Foundation on the maintenance and improvements at our various parks in which youth sports are played. Over the past year, portions of the south field grass area used by Little League and Soccer at Shadow Mountain Sports complex have deteriorated. Currently, the City does not have the budget to contract the removal and replacement of this turf. The City approached the Sparks Youth Sports Foundation to fund the necessary repairs.
Analysis:
The Sparks Youth Sports Foundation reviewed the City’s request and proposal for work to be completed. The Foundation agreed the work was necessary and approved providing a donation at their May 22, 2018 meeting to the City of Sparks to have the work completed.
Alternatives:
1. City Council may approve the donation as outlined by Staff.
2. City Council may reject the donation and provide direction to the City Manager.
Recommended Motion:
I move to accept the donation of $8,900 for grass turf replacement from the Sparks Youth Sports Foundation for Shadow Mountain Sports Complex Little League/Soccer Fields.
