Title: Consideration, discussion and possible approval of a professional services contract (AC-5440) with Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. for contract labor to provide building inspection services for the remainder of FY18 in an amount not to exceed $78,200.

Financial Impact: No General Fund impact; $476,000.00 in Fund 2201 (Development Services) was approved with the FY18 Budget for professional services. A budget augmentation will be brought to Council at a later date to augment the budget for this expense.

Agenda Item Brief:

Staff is requesting City Council approve the expenditure of up to $78,200 for contract labor to provide building inspection services for the remainder of FY18.



Background:

Since June 2015, Community Services-Building Inspection Division has utilized contract workers as building inspectors through third-party vendors to help with the demands of increased building inspections.



Analysis:

Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. has prepared a proposal to provide the City of Sparks with outside professional building inspection services. Staff have reviewed the proposal and finds the terms acceptable. Staff recommends approval.



Alternatives:

1. The City Council could approve the contract as outlined by staff.

2. The City Council could reject the contract and provide direction to the City Manager



Recommended Motion:

I move to approve the professional services contract with Bureau Veritas  North America, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $78,200 for contract labor to provide building inspection services for the remainder of FY18.
